How to Check your Website's Quality

Every website owner should ensure that his website is regularly updated and of extremely high quality, in order to see some semblance of success. There are however, many aspects to a website, and it is important to go through each of these sections in order to check for quality.

Here are a few areas of your website that you should regularly check, in order to maintain a high level of quality:
  1. Accessibility: Always check whether the content is structured separate from the navigational elements. Make sure your website is cross-browser compatible. Check whether it is W3C compliant and whether the CSS/HTML is valid. Make sure the Alt tags are in place on all the images.
  2. Navigation: Make sure you r links are all labeled with anchor text that gives a clear indication of where the links lead. Check for the maximum number of clicks it takes to reach a particular page in the deeper sections of the site. Check if a response is given immediately after clicking on a hyperlink. Check to see if clickable items clearly indicate that they are clickable. Check the navigation process and look out for signs that are obscured and buttons or links that are not clickable or cannot be identified. Check the readability of the site and the font size and type face. Check whether the statement of purpose of the site is clear and whether there is a call to action button on each page. Make sure your site map is logical and there is a keyword based search feature included as well.
  3. Design: Check whether your site is aesthetically appealing. Make sure the colors are logically related and harmonious, and check whether the color choices are visually accessible. Check whether the design is appropriate for your target audience. Make sure your text size and fonts are readable.
  4. Content: Your website content should be informative and fresh, and the style should suit your business person while spreading a message out to your target audience. Make sure the contrast between the text and the background color is sufficient and it is easy to read. The text should not be too small or broken. An About Us page is very helpful, as well as testimonials. Always update your content regularly.
